Common use

Seromycin contains active cycloserine substance which helps to struggle with bacteria in your organism. This drug is prescribed for treating tuberculosis in your lungs and many other organs. It is mainly used as a separate means without other medications. It can sometimes be effective in cases of some urinary tract infections.



Dosage and direction

All doses are usually defined by your doctor. Note that Seromycin may be swallowed with or without drinks and food. If you have some problems with stomach irritation take the pills during breakfast, dinner or supper. Each dose must be swallowed with a usual glass of water. This medicine is usually swallowed twice a day in combination with one more tuberculosis medicine.



Precautions

Seromycin can sometimes cause drowsiness that is why you should escape driving a car or operating machinery during the period of therapy. Never use alcohol drinks while you are treated with this medication. Remember that it is important to swallow the pills for the whole course of treatment. Even when you feel good, continue to take Seromycin drug till the end of the medical course. The active ingredients pass into breast milk. Nevertheless there is no detailed information about influences on a baby.



Contraindications

Seromycin pills must not be used by people with epilepsy, depression, anxiety disorder, psychotic or psychiatric disorders and kidney diseases. Do not swallow the pills if you have allergy to the ingredients of the present medication. It is worth mentioning that alcoholism is a strict contraindication.



Possible side effect

This medication can sometimes evoke mild or severe side effects which include: allergic reactions, aggression, bizarre behaviour, confusion, depression, dizziness and drowsiness, irritability, headache, memory loss, pricking of the skin, problems with speech, swelling of the legs and hands, tremors, intensive weakness or unusual tiredness. Drug interaction

You should avoid drinking alcohol during treatment. Speak to your physician when you are simultaneously using ethionamide or isoniazid and Seromycin. Some other drugs may interact with the medication under discussion that is why you should better consult a specialist.



Missed dose

Never double dose. In cases when your dose is missed, take it later as soon as possible. If it is time to use the next dose, skip it and swallow the next one as it is directed.



Overdose

The main symptoms of a strong overdose are: drowsiness, stomachache, confusion, dizziness, headache, irritability, numbness, difficult speaking, paralysis, abnormal behaviour, seizures and unconsciousness. Refer to emergency ambulance or find other professional medical help when you have faced some overdose symptoms.



Storage

Seromycin tablets should be stored at usual room temperature. Light, heat, and moisture can spoil the tablets. Keep this medication away from small children and different pets.
